演講題目:Facet-Dependent Properties of Semiconductor Nanocrystals

I will talk about our research on the syntheses of semiconductor nanocrystals
such as Cu2O crystals with systematic shape evolution
for the examination of their various properties, including their electrical conductivity,
photocatalytic activity, and optical properties.
These properties turn out to be strongly facet-dependent,
which are not known previously.
Our work shows discovering new materials physics starts from chemistry.
You need to prepare semiconductor crystals with excellent shape control
to reveal their unexpected behaviors dependent on the exposes surfaces.
This shows the advantage of a chemistry-oriented approach to crystal synthesis
beyond what materials science and engineering people can do.
